Our Story
Given the circumstances, 2008 wasn’t an ideal time to start a company—particularly not a construction company. People weren’t exactly in a position to build.
With a bigger mission in mind, Sabre’s founders, John Cyrier, Matt Lutz and Todd Reimers took a risk and started one anyway.
We attribute the fact that we’re not only still here, but thriving, to the uncommon way we approach construction. Most imagine construction as a sterile and pragmatic process: nails, scaffolding, nameless “workers” in hard hats. That’s not how we see it. That’s not how we build.
From our clients to our subcontractors, from our employees to our community, we believe that mindful and inspired relationships lay the groundwork for mindful and inspired buildings. We can only ever be as good as the subcontractors we hire and the way we communicate—and so we hire and communicate consciously. People partner with Sabre not just because we do the best work, but because we work with the best people. We treat everyone as invaluable to the process because they are.
Since 2008, we’ve grown to over 70 people and have been recognized three times by Austin Business Journal and once by the Austin American-Statesman as one of the best places to work in the city. Together, we’ve built restaurants and schools, hospitals and corporate offices.
In 2014 and 2015, we were finalists for Austin Gives and are dedicated to supporting local organizations like Mobile Loaves & Fishes, Caritas, and Capital Area Food Bank. But it’s more than just “giving back.” It’s about a tangible connection to our neighborhood and a stake in our city.
At Sabre, we seek to work with people who, like us, see commercial construction as greater than the sum of its parts.
